The smell in some residential bathrooms is so strong that it can make people dizzy and vomit in severe cases. When it comes to bathroom odor, the first thing everyone suspects is the floor drain. However, after several tests, it was found that there was no problem with the floor drain. Instead, the smell was greater near the toilet. So some people wonder, this seat looks perfect, how can it return odor?

There are four reasons why the toilet smells bad: 1. The water seal in the toilet is not effective. Some toilets have flaws in their design, and the water sealing effect is not good or there is no water sealing at all. This problem exists in many old-fashioned toilets. The workmanship of some toilet traps is not good, and it is easy for damage to occur without being noticed. This causes water leakage, resulting in lax water sealing, and the gas in the main sewer pipe takes advantage of the gap and returns to the room from this position.

2. The gap between the toilet and the floor is not tightly sealed.
After the toilet is installed, it is necessary to check whether the base and the ground are tightly connected. After the toilet is placed stably, it is sealed with glue and cured for 48 hours before use. If it is placed unstable, the glue seal is omitted, or it is used in advance, it will cause gaps between the toilet base and the ground, and it is inevitable that dirty gas will be discharged along the gaps.

3. The toilet drain outlet and pipeline are not properly connected.
When installing the toilet, a flange should be placed at the sewage outlet under the toilet. This connection with the sewage pipe can effectively prevent odors from returning. If the flange is displaced during installation, or the installer does not use the flange, there will be a large gap, and there may even be feces spilled outside the pipe mouth, forming a “stock”. At this time, if you remove the sealant under the toilet, you will see dirty water flowing out.

4. The toilet is not clean and not cleaned in time.
Some users do not pay attention to cleanliness and do not clean the toilet in time when the toilet is already dirty. This situation mostly occurs in shared houses. After using the toilet for a long time, thick dirt stains will be produced on the inner wall of the toilet and the drainage inlet. This kind of stuff will stick to more dirt and become the source of odor.
How to prevent toilet odor

1. If the toilet water seal problem causes odor, there are two solutions. One is to change to a new style of toilet. Choose one with an obvious S-curve, which will have better odor-proof effect. The other is to make a fuss about the sewage pipe and make a trap between the main sewer pipe and the toilet drain outlet. 2. If the sealant has aged and failed, just re-apply it. 3. Replace the toilet flange ring. The odor in the toilet may be caused by a problem with the flange ring. Just choose a new flange ring and replace it.
